So last May I decided to try and coax Anna into taking an eleven day scuba diving trip with me to St. John. We hadn't been dating long and had never traveled for that long together, but it wasn't that hard of a sell. If you're ever going to the US Virgin Islands and you're not into tacky tourist traps, St. John is the place to stay.
Maho Bay Camps was our "resort" of choice... it's an eco-resort stuck on the beach in the middle of a US National Forest, so it's pretty awful. It was absolutely beautiful. Our days consisted of diving, snorkeling, and lounging around. One of the highlights was swimming with a bunch of sea turtles right in the bay! Then of course there was happy hour overlooking the gorgeous Maho Bay at sunset. Real rough stuff... not for the faint of heart. It was there at the happy hour, probably drunk on Carib, that the seed was planted for our grand trip around the world...
