After leaving Washington we headed out to see Anna's childhood friend Jessica McGuinty.  We had to stop in Grant's Pass for the night after some hair raising night-time driving in heavy pouring rain up and down crazy steep windy mountain roads alongside a seemingly endless caravan of tractor trailers in a completely enveloping dense fog.  Fun stuff I'll tell you what.  My hands actually hurt from gripping the wheel so tight.

The next day we finally got to Jessica's factory.  Yep, I said factory.  This girl started her own company and runs her own dang factory!!  Pretty cool stuff.  Long story short, she's got very curly hair, hated it growing up and couldn't find any suitable products to use to style it and make it look the way she wanted it.  So she did some research, made her own batch of fancy hair-goup in her kitchen and it worked!  So voila, Jessicurl was born... their mantra is "you have the right to remain curly!"

Jess and her husband Dave now make a bunch of different stuff in the factory, including shampoos, conditioners, room sprays and other stuff I'm otherwise unfamiliar with.  It's not just for curly haired girls anymore.  Recently she was on the Rachel Ray show and business has been booming.

The picture above was taken in front of a vat of some batch of something good for your hair, I can't remember what.  But it did have flax in it.  And yes, they use giant drill presses to mix the goo.

The picture to the left is of their dog Nikki.  Apparently she's not so bright (sorry Nikki).  But she's amusing... likes to stick her head in stinky boots.  Who doesn't?

Oh yeah, before we got to Jessica's place we stopped by the Redwood Forest and saw the biggest trees I've ever seen. We also saw a stupid giant wooden lumberjack, but I won't bore you with those pictures.  Check out how freakishly small I look next to the Redwoods.  And for the record, Anna looked just as freakishly small.
On the way out of the Redwood forest I got this shot of the biggest elk I've ever seen (it's been a trip full of superlatives).  It's no big feat though since I spotted my first elk less than a week ago.  This guy was a ten pointer, just hanging out on some dude's lawn while he waited for the rest of the herd to catch up.  He didn't seem to mind me getting close to snap a picture.  I think he knew I could take him.
