Isla Mujeres - So two days ago we had lunch at the Sierra Nevada brewery with Anna´s mom, then left Chico to have a last meal with Anna´s dad and Colleen.  After that we drove our little crap rental car to the airport for our 12:30 am flight!  A long day of travelling later and we finally touched down in Cancun.  Took a bus to the bus station and a taxi to the ferry and a ferry to Isla Mujeres.  Our command of spanish seemed to serve us well enough so far, although most folks here speak english.

On the ferry we met Tim and Laura from Ohio, and another couple from Minnesota.  Of course, we didn´t yet have a place to stay so the folks from Minnesota (who´ve been here sixty times or so) recommended some hotels.  We found a nice cheap hotel downtown across from some piers and restaurants for 25 bucks.  Good enough!

After a brief rest we took a walk to the beach, found a nice little beachside bar and wouldn´t you know it ran into Tim and Laura!  I heard a voice shout hey and I looked and there they were.  We shared a few drinks and some stories and then took off to get a bite to eat.  I think we ended up getting to bed around 7:30, which sounds early sure, but it was 10:30 our time after a very long day.

Woke up today, ate the rest of Jay´s banana bread for breakfast at a tiny restaurant where we got some fresh juice.  Nice picture of Bailey... why isn´t he wearing that hat?  Then we headed to the beach where I was until about 10 minutes ago!  Anna and I spent the morning the same way we´ll spend the afternoon... lying on a giant beach lounger watching the waves, snoozing and reading.  I think we´re going to stay here for a week or so - relax, and do some snorkling and diving - and then head over to Toulum (sp?).  We´ll need time to find Gomer´s chicken and Casa O´s (thanks Em and Moose!)  Ok, my drink is getting warm so I gotta go!

      Tom and Anna,

We were honored to see ourselves on your site! We enjoyed hanging out with you two on Wed. evening. Thanks for fixing my 'broken' Corona!

We kept our eyes out for you as we roamed the island while we were there but never seemed to cross paths.

We look forward to reading about your future travels and adventures.

We do have a couple of photos of the sunset from that evening we'd like to send. Drop me a note and I'll send them so you can post if you wish.
