ISLA MUJERES - Well, things have been going good the last few days. We're kindof done with Isla Mujeres so we were going to head on down to Playa del Carmen but we had a change of plans. It looks like that little old grandma added a dash of the Montezuma in yesterday's lunch. So today Anna and I are both sick. Your imaginations can fill in the rest. Anyway, it's ok cuz it's raining outside... all that wind we've gotten was leading this giant rainstorm.
The other night at our hotel I ran into a cool guy, Chuck Cronin, who frequents this area quite a bit. He gave me some great advice on Belize as well and at one point mentioned being able to take a 'Kombi' bus from Piste to Chichen Itza... anyway, for those in the know, a Kombi is an old-style vw bus that they still make in Brazil. I said I loved vws and he said 'you know what a type 3 is?'... i said 'hell yeah, i have one... a vw notchback' and thus we lost the next few hours discussing the little beasts. The next day Anna and I ran into Chuck and met a marine by the name of Captain Ed Meeds who is waiting to drive a boat up to Texas. We all went out to dinner and Ed had some fascinating stories about life at sea, sharks and the islands. I very much enjoyed meeting him too and we stayed up all hours talking on about all kinds of stuff.
Not much else to report... thanks for all the comments and for keeping up on our doings. I gotta run!
