More Diving!

PLAYA DEL CARMEN - The second day of diving was as good as the first. We did two dives, one called Tortugas and one called Jardines. At Tortugas, as the name implies, we saw scores of giant sea turtles. I stopped counting after 12. There was one that was missing part of it´s shell at it´s butt... apparently a very lucky survivor of a shark attack! We swam through schools of fish to get through a little underwater cave (it was only about 20 feet long). We also saw other cool stuff like giant lobster, more eels, tiny sea crabs, some giant snapper and a puffed up puffer fish! Roberto actually picked that little guy up and handed him to us. Puffer fish are neat when blown up... just like in Finding Nemo they´re all kindof out of control and are at the mercy of the current while they wave their useless little fins.
The next day we did some CAVE DIVING. This was exciting, and we dove with a certified full cave dive instructor in a cenote called 'Dos Ojos'. It was amazing... the visibility was the best I´d ever experienced and the water was colder than the ocean. There were gorgeous stalactites and stalagmites to avoid and we spotted some albino fish, cenote shrimp, catfish and a few other things. The beauty here was in the cave and not the wildlife. One one dive we surfaced in a bat cave... and there were a lot of them hanging out on the ceiling and flying around trying to avoid our lights! We met another first time cave diver named Matt from Kansas who had some funny stories for us too. Christina from Abyss was the instructor and she was fantastic. I almost forgot... on the drive out we saw a tarantula in the street... but when we got out to look at it we didn´t have our camera!
We got some shots of us in the caves... this one is of Anna just coming up out of a deep dark stretch... good form!

This one is of me spinning through some stalactites...

Today we´re off to Chetumal and then hopefully across the border to Belize! Adios.
